Here is a first batch, Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet in Cadillac Green, complete with original case, fully equipped in gold hardware and rare armrest. This one spent part of its life in the Songbirds museum.

There isn’t much of a market these days for vintage Gretsch and it’s depressing to see how a 1950s giant has fallen. Sadly, no a lot of people are willing to take on all the hassle you get with a vintage Gretsch. They are arguably not worth it and I have to agree. However, if you do manage to find one which actually plays well, hold onto it!

This is a fine specimen. There is some block marker desperation between the board, but it plays ok. There is no neck angle issue with the one and there is plenty of life and movement left in the bridge/truss rod.

If you’re going to take on a Gretsch, it may as well be a mid 50s Duo Jet. They are special guitars, I own a 55 Round Up myself and that is a guitar for life.
